Working day to day with the engineering and QC teams, she helps buyers settle the four decisions that set a pole program: alloy, lock, finish and packaging — and get the spec into production without a second round of samples.

Based at the Huai'an Plant, Not at a Trading Desk

Jiangsu Xingyong Aluminum Technology Co., Ltd has extruded aluminum in Huai'an since 2010. Tube comes off our own 2,000-tonne press, plastic locks and grips are molded on site, and finished poles are assembled and packed in the same plant — which is why a sourcing question can be answered the same day instead of relayed to a supplier.

What does Sophie specialize in?

What will she not advise on?

Anything outside the hardware layer. We supply poles and tube; electrical ratings, medical device approvals and any certification carried under a brand's own name stay with the brand. She will say that on a spec sheet rather than let a program be built on a wrong assumption.

How is a claim in a guide checked before it is published?

Numbers come from one of three places: our own production and lab records, a calculation with the formula shown, or a published standard that is cited and linked — dimensional tolerances for extruded tube, for example, are quoted against ASTM B221 rather than described loosely. Anything that cannot be traced to one of those does not go in.
