How to Clean High Windows from the Ground with a Water-Fed Pole

Soluciones por aplicación Actualizado

How to clean high windows from the ground: use a water-fed pole to brush reachable exterior glass, rinse it with purified water, and let it dry. Check the ground, overhead lines, glass condition, and brush control first. If you cannot reach the whole pane from a stable position, use another access method.

Check Reach and Safety

Start on firm, level ground with a clear path for the pole and hose. Look for power lines, slippery paving, traffic, open windows, damaged frames, and vents. Never use an aluminum pole near a line it could touch. The UK Health and Safety Executive recommends water-fed poles where they can avoid work at height, while checking ground, obstructions, weather, and electrical hazards.

Fit the brush and make a dry pass at the highest pane. Use the shortest extension that reaches the top without leaning. If the pole bows, a section slips, or a ledge blocks the brush, stop. Check the glass maker’s care instructions before wetting coated glass or fragile frames.

Set Up the Water-Fed Pole

Check the brush connection, hose flow, and purified-water output before washing. The pole holds the brush and carries water; the filter is a separate part of the system. The NGA/IWCA glass-cleaning guide sets a maximum of 20 ppm total dissolved solids (TDS) for pure-water washing and rinsing. Measure at the outlet with a TDS meter. Check that both brush jets run and the hose does not kink at working length.

For filter and pump choices, see our pure-water system guide. Xingyong’s aluminum water-fed pole range offers internal or external hose routing and brush interfaces matched to the buyer’s tool.

Brush, Rinse, and Inspect

Clean one window at a time from the top down. Wet and brush the upper frame first so its dirt does not run over finished glass. Brush the pane with light, overlapping passes, including the edges. Rinse from the top until dirty runoff is gone, then lift the brush away. Purified water dries without a squeegee.

Test one pane first if the coating is unfamiliar or the frame is heavily soiled. Inspect it after drying. Do not try to scrape paint, mineral deposits, or bonded debris from the ground; those may need a separate method and closer inspection.

If the Glass Dries with Marks

Check the cause before repeating the whole window. Spots may come from untreated water, dirty frame runoff, or a missed strip. More brush pressure will not fix a water-quality problem.

Mark Comprobación Acción
Small spots Outlet TDS and filter bypass Correct the water, then retest one pane.
Line below the frame Dirty frame runoff Wash the frame, then rinse the pane.
Missed edge Brush angle and overlap Reposition on safe ground or shorten the pole.
Brush skips or turns Lock, shaft, and head fit Stop and correct the assembly.

When to Use Another Method

Stop if you cannot control the brush while standing safely. Power lines, strong wind, steep ground, deep ledges, and busy walkways can rule out ground-level pole work. Interior windows also need a different water plan to protect floors and electrical fittings. Our window cleaning pole range separates water-fed and squeegee setups.

What an OEM Buyer Should Test

Approve the pole with the actual brush and hose that will ship in the kit. At working extension, check brush tracking, head security, hose flow, and lock holding with wet hands. Record the approved parts and collapsed length for later batch checks. Xingyong makes the aluminum tubes, molded guides and collars, and assembled pole in Huai’an. Its water-fed platform can use 6063 or 6061 stepped sections. Test the full assembly before promising a working height from pole length alone.

Preguntas frecuentes

Can I clean high windows without a ladder?

Yes, if the brush reaches the whole exterior pane while you stand safely on level ground.

Do I need a squeegee after rinsing?

No. A thorough purified-water rinse is left to dry, provided the water and glass are clean.

Why are there spots after drying?

Check the outlet TDS, filter path, and dirty runoff from the frame before washing again.

Can I use the same method indoors?

Usually not with a running rinse. Choose tools that control water around floors and fittings.

Will any brush fit an OEM water-fed pole?

No. Send the exact brush and connector to the pole supplier and test the assembled sample.

What should a distributor approve?

Check head fit, brush control, hose flow, lock holding, collapsed size, and packaging.
